Fresh eyes, sharper bids

With our peer review and coaching expertise, this creative team redefined how they communicate their strengths — on paper and in person.

The brief

As a leading multi-disciplinary studio in Naarm (Melbourne) our client had been working with a government agency on small projects and wanted to expand their work with the agency into larger and more strategic projects. They engaged Jigsaw Theory to work alongside them on their next project bid and provide peer review services.

Our approach

Jigsaw Theory started by reviewing recent submitted bids and created an assessment rubric to review the bids, looking at:

  • Understanding of project brief

  • Response to project brief

  • Quality of messaging – consistency and clarity

  • Understanding of audience needs

  • Clarity of proposed methodology

  • Pricing structure – clarity of structure and industry benchmarking.

During preparation of the new bid, Jigsaw Theory participated in team discussions and provided feedback based on the assessment rubric and the bid development.

Multiple rounds of review were undertaken and following submission of the bid the studio extended the commission to engage Jigsaw Theory in tender interview preparation with the presenting team.

This involved group and individual coaching and preparation, equipping the team with clarity and confidence in their messaging to the client. We engaged with all members of the team nominated in crucial project roles and worked on developing their confidence in representing themselves and the studio with the target audience.

The results

The team was able to clearly articulate their point of difference in the submission documents and positively present those in the tender interview. The team confidently demonstrated to the client what they have to offer and how their project methodology would benefit the client and the project in the longer-term.

This process was a great success for this team. They gained confidence that has carried through to other aspects of the practice and further targeted coaching is now being explored across the studio.
